Dance Visions 2025, the premier annual production of the Department of Dance at UC Irvine’s Claire Trevor School of the Arts, presents an extraordinary evening of movement, music, and theatrical artistry. This year’s program features a compelling range of works by esteemed faculty choreographers, spanning classical and contemporary styles. Tong Wang reimagines “Giselle Act II” (excerpt) with his unique vision, while Charlotte Griffin’s “High Windows” blends lyrical elegance with evocative soundscapes. Molly Lynch’s “Moonlight” brings the dramatic intensity of Rachmaninoff’s piano sonata to life, and “Archaea Extremophiles,” by Cyrian Reed and S. Ama Wray, delves into themes of evolution and resilience through a fusion of dance and science. Closing the evening, Lar Lubovitch’s iconic “MARIMBA” captivates with rhythmic precision and hypnotic movement.

Rachmaninoff and the Tsar
After you experience Dance Visions 2025 with Molly Lynch’s piece “Moonlight” set to Rachmaninoff’s Piano Sonata No. 2, Allegro Agitato, see Rachmaninoff and the Tsar, performing Feb. 19-Mar. 2 at South Coast Repertory. Hershey Felder's newest musical play features him in the role of composer and pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff alongside British-Italian actor Jonathan Silvestri in the role of Tsar Nicholas II. Having safely left Russia during the 1917 revolution, Rachmaninoff eventually made his home in Beverly Hills, but always longed for the Tsarist Russia that he knew and loved as a young man. Featuring Rachmaninoff's most beloved compositions, this promises to be another mystical musical journey in the Hershey Felder style that patrons have come to know and love.
