About Melissa Harris-Perry

Melissa Harris-Perry, host of her own weekly interactive program focusing on the intersections of culture, art and community on MSNBC, is widely praised for thoughtful, insightful analysis and discussion.

She is the founding director of the Anna Julia Cooper Center on Gender, Race, and Politics in the South, and a Presidential Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Wake Forest University.

Harris-Perry is author of Sister Citizen: Shame, Stereotypes, and Black Women in America and the award-winning Barbershops, Bibles, and BET: Everyday Talk and Black Political Thought.
