Dance Visions 2023

The UCI Claire Trevor School of the Arts presents original works choreographed by the Department of Dance faculty for Dance Visions 2023. This annual showcase offers a variety of dance styles, from classical ballet to modern jazz and hip hop, and draws on the fusion of dance, music and theatrical elements to captivate and entertain. Performed by undergraduate and graduate dance majors, this high-energy showcase will inspire and delight!

Pieces range from Distinguished Professor Lar Lubovitch’s joyful and celebratory “Cryptoglyph” set to “Double Fiesta” by Meredith Monk to our newest Hip Hop and Jazz faculty’s vibrant and energetic creations: Ariyan Johnson’s “Inglewood to Irvine: A Dance Ministry Experience” and Cyrian Reed’s “SOUL INTELLIGENCE - A Tribute To The Late Great Pharaoh Sanders. While “Paquita,” reconstructed by Tong Wang, will showcase dancers and demonstrate the beauty of classical ballet. Professor Vitor Luiz’s “Luna e’motions” expands boundaries with a fusion of traditional ballet with a contemporary twist.
