The Freedom Writers Foundation and UCI Student Center Board of Advisors are pleased to present a special invitation to a free screening of the inspiring documentary from UCI Alumna Erin Gruwell.

Freedom Writers: Stories From an Undeclared War recounts the compelling journey of 150 at-risk students labeled as unteachable.

The documentary follows the students’ story from the first day of freshman year in 1994 to the present day. In a racially divided community where adolescents were exposed to drugs, gang warfare, and homicides.

Gruwell makes it her goal to teach the students to put down their fists and guns and pick up a pen.

Screening is followed by a Q&A session with Erin Gruwell and Freedom Writers. 
All guests are welcome to purchase books and enjoy the book signing event afterwards.
