UC Irvine (30-5) earned a No. 13 seed in the South Region of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament and will play fourth-seeded Kansas State in a first-round game Friday, March 22, at SAP Center in San Jose. Game time is set for 11 a.m.

On Saturday night, the Anteaters defeated Cal State Fullerton, 92-64, to win the Big West Tournament and earn the conference's automatic NCAA bid. It was their program-record 30th victory, making them one of only four schools in all of Division I to reach the 30-win mark this year. UCI also won its seventh Big West regular-season title, and fourth in the last six years.

This is the 'Eaters second NCAA Tournament appearance in school history. They previously advanced to the Big Dance in 2015 when they were also a No. 13 seed and took Louisville down to the wire in a 57-55 loss at Key Arena in Seattle.

The winner of Friday's game will advance to the second round to face either No. 5 seed Wisconsin (23-10) or No. 12 seed Oregon (23-12) on Sunday, March 24.
