Research shows that being connected to and experiencing nature contributes to mental health and emotional well-being. UCI has several beautiful places on or near campus where students, faculty and staff can connect with and experience the natural beauty of our environment and ecosystem.

The Center for Student Wellness & Health Promotion and Campus Recreation continue their collaboration on “Wednesday Wellness Walks,” which allows UCI students, faculty and staff to enjoy a guided walking tour of five of these natural resources … and it’s absolutely FREE!

The walks take place on Wednesdays of Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 every quarter. Each walking tour includes a mindfulness/meditation component (provided by Natalie D’Azzo, Wellness Programs Manager in the Center for Student Wellness & Health Promotion), an ecological education component (provided by Dr. Peter Bowler, professor of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and Director of the UCI Arboretum), and/or an outdoor education component (provided by Doug Tully, Outdoor Adventures Coordinator in Campus Recreation).

The Spring 2019 schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, April 10: UCI Aldrich Park
Wednesday, April 24: Mason Park
Wednesday, May 8: UCI Arboretum
Wednesday, May 22: Sea & Sage Audobon Area
Wednesday, June 5: UCI Ecological Preserve

All walks will begin by meeting outside of “Zot N Go” at 11:30AM and will conclude by 1PM. No registration is necessary.
