Internationally recognized science educator, Shirley Malcom, will keynote at the virtual meeting of the Inclusive Excellence Forum. The program is scheduled for 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

The program will be held virtually via Zoom.

This year’s Inclusive Excellence Forum, a signature event hosted by the Office of Inclusive Excellence, focuses on the UCI SEA Change initiative to transform diversity, equity, and inclusion across all academic fields. The initiative aligns to the AAAS SEA Change Program, which focuses on valuing and working with diverse individuals in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine. The forum also will feature a skills briefing to reduce implicit bias and other updates on the UCI Action Plan for Inclusive Excellence.

Dr. Malcom joins the forum for a candid talk about "Are We There Yet? Progressing Toward Silver and Gold." The talk will be of interest to all UCI members as it references the professional association’s expectations for not only launching a current action plan at UCI that garnered a Bronze Award from AAAS for its change initiatives, but also for moving forward as a pioneering institution.
