Insure a newly acquired vehicle. |
- Complete a Vehicle Insurance Request form as soon as you take possession of the vehicle.
- Email the form to Risk Management.
- Contact Risk Management if Vehicle Physical Damage coverage is not desired (only when vehicle is very low value.)
- Risk Management will send insurance documentation.
|
2 |
Keep evidence of insurance in the vehicle glove compartment. |
- Review the evidence of insurance documentation to confirm that it is correct.
- If incorrect/incomplete inform Risk Management promptly.
- If license plates have not yet been received be sure to contact Risk Mangement when they are, so we can issue complete documentation.
|
3 |
Inform your vehicle drivers of insurance documentation. |
- Let all drivers know that evidence of insurance documentation is in the glove compartment.
- Documentation includes both instructions as to what to do in the event of an accident and a Vehicle Accident Report form.
- Drivers should review How to Respond if you are in a Vehicle Accident so that they are familiar with their responsibilities in the event of an accident.
If you cannot locate the vehicle's evidence of insurance document contact Risk Management for a replacement copy. |
4 |
Provide reports |
- At the beginning of each fiscal year submit a complete list of all departmental vehicles to Risk Management.
